The French revolution was a important time in French history, It began in 1789 and ended in 1799. During the French revolution, the previous monarchy and the entire social three state system was overthrown. People of the third state were tired of being trated how they were, they wanted more respect and an actual say in the government. Louis XIV was the first king in power at the beginning of the revolution he was very weak and indecisive ruler. His wife Marie Antoinette was obsessed with spending money. Together they put the country in debt. Despite the lack of food they ate huge amounts and spent money that didn't even belong to them. eventually the third estate started to begin violent revolts. In 1794 a ruler named Robespierre came into power. He was a terrible leader and killed thousands of men by the guiliotine. Finally he was arrested and overthrown, and the new constitution was issued. After many reforms the revolution was over
